Thanksgiving in January?

Wow!  Last night I experienced a true night of Thanksgiving.  It  wasn’t a meal in fact I didn’t even eat!  I truly embraced Thanksgiving for those in my life that serve around me and with me!

A pageant in Troy left me without two teachers and an assistant.  Also, another teacher was sick :( . These young ladies sow each week into the lives of kids from around Pike County.  They have a huge job and do it well.  As I stopped to beg the TEC Crew class to stop talking I noticed I could hardly talk because I was out of breath.  I looked at a clock and noticed that I had been teaching since 4:15 and it was then 6:45.

I am so extremely grateful to all the teachers and assistants that make In His Steps function and flow with the Heart of Christ Weekly.

I got home and sat down on the couch next to my husband and just being next to him made me feel content.  My legs throbbed and back stiff but all was well next to him.  Conversation yeah, but even not saying anything would have still rendered the same thankfullness I had that I have a husband to come home to that I can sit next to and feel better by just being there.

Today, I am trying to practice noticing those in my life that are a constant that bless me and help support me in life.

I am Thankful in January.  Thank You God!

Hitting the target with your kids?

As a parent we have this idea of giving our kids everything emotionally and physically that we think we didn’t have growing up!  A major discernment hit me this year!  I can’t be everything in their lives!  While the bar is high for us parents to do just that. The one thing I have noticed is,  the people God has put in my life that my children can glean from.

Some words of wisdom are better received from our closest friends in ways we can’t get through.  No matter how hard we try an objective opinion from an outside source can be a breakthrough at times.

Due to Peer Pressure!

I am being provoked to better works!  Christmas is my favorite time of year!  I love the holidays because there is so much hope and looking for good.  The year is full of expectation and agenda. Christmas is a time everyone for the most, is on the same page.  At least in the bible belt.

David and I got up on the roof to put up lights today!  Mission accomplished! They twinkle the edge of the roof from one side of the house all the way to the other.  Red and Green icecicle lights hang from the front of the roof.  The tree is up and stockings hung!  The annual order of S.O.S. breakfast on Christmas morning has been placed.  A tradition from my grandfather on my mom’s side.

My favorite smell is when I go outside and I can smell a fire burning from a nearby fireplace.  I love to see Christmas lights on houses and trees in people’s windows as you pass by.  Christmas is colorful and hopeful.  I don’t know of anyone who has a cooler birthday than Jesus!

What kind of traditions do you and your family/families have at Christmas?
